The Canopi, Bintan

4 May

Our first Glamour Camping in Bintan, at The Canopi.

We booked 3 days 2 nights at their Safari Tent with our friends, and we were very excited to see their Huge Crystal Lagoon! It was Man made saltwater pool, so clear, so blue, where you just want to keep swimming all day there. Or maybe just laze around it to admire its beauty.

Things to take note,

The resort is near the ferry port, it took about 10 minutes to reach the resort from the ferry terminal.

The beach at the resort is not for swim compared to other parts of beaches in Bintan, so the Lagoon is something to exchange that. Lots of activities at the resort to keep kids entertained, e.g. Mini ATV at about 40,000 Rupiahs, Water Sport Park for 85,000 Rupiahs/hour, etc.

There is only one restaurant at the resort, the food was good, but be ready, they are not cheap.

It might get quite hot all day till around 5-6pm, so be prepared.

The resort area is huge, walking under the sun with small kids might be tough, but they do have shuttle service to bring you from reception area to the activity area.

One activity we recommend you to do while in Bintan:

We took Fireflies Tour. You may ask the reception for that. after having our dinner at one of the Kelong recommended by the reception guide. The reception can recommend you to person in charge for the local tour.

What we like about the tour,

We managed to see the clear sky of Bintan in the night. The stars were beautiful in the darkness, something your might not always experience in Singapore. Taking the boat itself was a unique experience for the kids, as it was night time, we were exploring in the darkness.

The boat was a simple boat, no roof. The boat brought us to see the fireflies, went near them and even caught few of them. Since it is an outdoor activity weather does play a part. Just hope it does not rain when you take the tour.

We did not order any lobsters or crabs, we just had simple dishes on that night.
