Hanoi Day 2, August 2015

4 Sep

It is a late post.

I have been busy with kids starting school and getting back to routines.

And finally I have time to write on my 2nd and 3rd day in Hanoi.

My family booked 2days 1 night Paradize Cruise Package to see Halong Bay. We reserved 16 seaters mini van to pick us from hotel. The driver drove us for about 3 hours from Hanoi Old Quarter to the harbour to get into the Cruise Ship.

In the middle of the way to harbour we stopped at a stopover souvenir shop (they have restaurant as well). We went for toilet break, bought some ice cream, and relaxed. This huge souvenir shop sold Vietnamese souvenirs, food, bags, jewelry, etc. The price for most things were high, doubled the price at Hanoi city.

The reason why most drivers brought tourists here was that they got to rest and had free lunch at this resting place. I think most of Hanoi travel agents are instructed to bring tourists here. Despite all that, The shop was really a great break during the road trip.

But, because of the high cost,  we decided not to buy any souvenirs here. We decided to shop at Old Quarter area, at Hanoi city because price is much cheaper. Or, maybe you can bargain with the manager of the shop if you find something you really like there. It is difficult to find the same thing in different places. Travelling with kids can be full of surprises.

The cruise gave us some activities during the trip, like kayaking and cooking lesson. The activities were memorable, and we had really good time during these 2 nights on board.

Please check the pictures with explanations below. And do check my Hanoi Day 1 blog entry to give you bigger picture of what Hanoi looked like.

The room (I had a small private balcony with table and 2 chairs at the balcony (no pictures here), the bathroom did not have bath tub, only shower room)

My sister’s room Jacuzzi (not all room is provided with Jacuzzi). This room is much bigger, with 1 queen bed + 1 extra bed. They had Dvd player but you had to provide your own Dvds. No time for watching Tv though.

Tested Saigon Beer, I prefer Hanoi beer instead. Saigon Beer is more bitter.

Our lunch, we could choose main dishes, I chose fish. (Cooked in French style) It was the best main dish among all. (They had beef, chicken cordon blue, and fish)

Dessert station for lunch. Caramel banana was a hit

Kayaking among the Bay. Yeay!! The activity was included in the Cruise Package. My son and I kayaked very far, and we swam in the sea at the end of the journey. We had 2 guides accompanied a group of us along the way. My son is 10 years old. My 7 years old did it as well. As long as you have an adult accompanying your child, I really recommend this activity.

Hubby managed to take pictures of us. ^^

You can check Paradize Cruise Ha long bay at the internet,

This is the website:

http://m.paradisecruises.vn

You can always compare with different travel agent if you wish to compare prices, we did not book directly through them, we had a recommendation from friend,

Mr Manh, ‪+84 91 301 53 45‬

He has travel agent in Hanoi. He took care of our reservation for Paradize Cruise.

But for all my hotel reservations in Hanoi, I did not book through Mr Manh. I took care of the hotel reservations by myself, the Essence Hotel in my previous blog writing is quite recommended because of its cleanliness, friendly staffs, and great breakfast. Do check my Hanoi Day 1 entry. 🙂

Hope you can have a chance to visit Ha long Bay in your next trip 🙂
